Association for the Promotion of Sports Medicine Hannover e.V.

The Association for the Promotion of Sports Medicine in Hanover (founded in 1977) is a registered non-profit organization and, according to its statutes, its purpose is "to prepare and issue publications in the field of sports medicine science, to communicate the knowledge gained in practical sports medicine, and to take all appropriate measures to promote sports medicine."

Full members of the Association are the state associations of the German Society for Sports Medicine and Prevention (formerly the German Association of Sports Physicians; German: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sportmedizin und Prävention, DGSP).

The Association is the sponsor and publisher of the German Journal of Sports Medicine, the official organ of the German Society for Sports Medicine and Prevention. In this capacity, it provides guidelines for the design of the journal, elects a chief editor, and contracts with publishers for production.

The German Journal of Sports Medicine is the leading and most widely read German-language journal for the entire field of sports medicine. It is aimed at all physicians practicing sports medicine, general practitioners, internists, cardiologists, orthopedists, surgeons and many others, as well as other scientists of all disciplines interested in sports medicine / sports science, as well as physiotherapists, trainers, practitioners and athletes. Members of the regional associations of the German Society for Sports Medicine and Prevention receive the journal free of charge.
